Once again it has brought to my attention from DPW that some of our residence have received a letter from SERVICE LINE WARRANTIES soliciting insurance coverage for maintenance and future water line breaks.  They state you are responsible for water line breaks between your house and the street including water meters.(NOT TRUE)  They state the breaks are not typically covered by your homeowners insurance. (because it is not necessary) They want you to enroll in the WATER LINE WARRANTY PROGRAM FROM SERVICE LINE WARRANTIES OF MICHIGAN.  For just $4.75 a month, you will be covered under their insurance. The only problem is YOU DON’T NEED THEIR INSURANCE!!  I was informed by DPW that the SCS water department absorbs 99% of all costs to any water line outside your residence, including water meters.  They also stated unfortunately this insurance letter is legal BUT not necessary for you to have!! 

I think a lot of residence read this and think about sewer lines, but it is clearly stated WATER lines not SEWER lines, so don’t fall victim to their insurance protection plan it is not necessary!!
